Masato Miura

Design Engineering Lead at Articulate Global

15+ years at the sweet spot of product, design, and engineering, guided by taste, craft, and detail.

Designer who ships production code. I encode craft into systems, tools, and workflows that designers, engineers, and AI agents build on.

Experience

Articulate Global 2025 – Present

Design Engineering Lead · Los Angeles · Remote

From engineering, bridging design and development. Built Arc: the system product teams ship on, and designers, PMs, and agents build with.

  • Built tokens, components, docs, and lint as one source of truth, and drove migration off the legacy system so Arc stays the path of least resistance.
  • Connected Figma, Claude Design, and code, and exposed Arc through MCP so agents discover the system instead of inventing around it.

Tailor 2024 – 2025

Head of Developer Experience · Los Angeles · Remote

Led design and engineering as one practice through seed to Series A.

  • Led 3 cross-functional teams with 15+ engineers and designers, setting the product and craft bar across Console, docs, and ERP applications.
  • Led the company-wide rebrand and new marketing site, and shipped the documentation site and Console features that defined how Tailor feels.

Tailor 2023 – 2024

Founding Design Engineer · Los Angeles · Remote

Designed and engineered the design system and Console product from scratch.

  • Designed the system’s foundations (tokens, components, and the rules for using them) and got design and engineering building on the same source of truth.
  • Designed and shipped the developer Console from concept to launch: a dense product UI for deployments, debugging, and performance monitoring.

Podium 2022 – 2023

Tech Lead – Frontend / Design Systems · Los Angeles · Remote

Owned Brickyard, Podium’s design system, from concept to company-wide use through a $201M Series D.

  • Led the design-systems team as the design-code bridge, the system both sides used, not a library engineers worked around.
  • Raised the craft bar in production: WCAG accessibility, adoption and migration, and the reliability of what actually shipped.

SimplePractice 2020 – 2021

Frontend Engineer / Design Systems · Los Angeles

First engineer dedicated to the design system: 20+ components across 3 web apps, through a $378M IPO.

  • Kept Figma and production in sync: partnered with 5+ designers on specs, then shipped matching components and docs as an npm package.
  • Built the shared source of truth that kept UI consistent and accessible across three applications, adopted into a backlog used by 30+ engineers.

Copper 2018

Frontend Engineer · San Francisco

Worked across 3 functions for 2+ key features during a $70M Series C.

  • Shipped a multi-language localization system (Ember.js) that grew international customers by 3k, and CRUD permissions that helped the company support mid-market users.

Copper 2014 – 2018

Senior Product Designer · San Francisco

Led a team of 5 across 4 functions to design 10+ features, seed to $24M Series B.

  • Led product design and strategy for 10+ key web application features supporting international and mid-market use cases.
  • Designed 10+ production features, including entity filtering, automated actions, sales goals and leaderboard, and dropdown field reorder.
